EXIF stores camera and photo data like date, location and orientation. XMP/ICC are other metadata formats; we keep it simple and preserve key info needed for JPGs.
XMP is a metadata format used by editors like Photoshop/Lightroom for tags and edits. Not required for typical JPG viewing.
ICC profiles define color spaces. Most JPGs look fine without embedding them; we aim for broad compatibility.

How It Works
Why conversion in your browser is more private, faster, and safer.
The old way vs. the heicfix way
Typical converter (server‑based)
User → Upload → Server stores a copy → Server converts → Download
heicfix.pro (client‑based)
User → Browser converts locally → Download
What happens under the hood?
- Client‑side decoding: We use a WebAssembly/JS decoder to read HEIC and render a JPG/WebP in your browser.
- EXIF preservation (optional): We extract EXIF from your original file and write key fields (date/time, orientation, GPS) into the JPG.
- Batch and ZIP: Convert many files at once, and download a single .zip if you’d like.
