How It Works — Private HEIC to JPG

The old way vs. the heicfix way

User → Upload → Server stores a copy → Server converts → Download

Risks: privacy exposure, slow uploads, size limits, throttling.

User → Browser converts locally → Download

Benefits: files never leave your device; instant; no limits; works offline after load.

Client-side decoding: We use a WebAssembly/JS decoder to read HEIC and render a JPG in your browser.
EXIF preservation (optional): We extract EXIF from your original file and write key fields (date/time, orientation, GPS) into the JPG.
Batch and ZIP: Convert many files at once, and download a single .zip if you’d like.

All work happens in your browser’s memory. No photos are uploaded, seen, or stored by us.
